Holme Valley Parish Council is committed to tackling the climate crisis, a commitment we made clear in 2019 by declaring a Climate Emergency. In every action we take, we are guided by this collective commitment – not just in our own operations, but also when we consider grant applications. We continually evaluate proposed actions for their impact on the natural world and climate change.
We are committed to working towards:
- Collaborating with residents, businesses, community organisations, and all levels of government to address the Climate Emergency
- Support for energy-efficient homes and businesses powered by carbon-free heating in the planning system
- Clean electricity and an increase in renewable energy generation in the Holme Valley.
- A shift away from personal vehicles powered by fossil fuels, with a focus on shared transport and active travel
- Promoting healthier lifestyles through locally grown food, increased walking & cycling, and sustainable local farming
- Maintaining and improving biodiversity in our beautiful valley.
